The Dept of New York Sons are starting a new program of
purchasing undergarments for vets in the VA Medical Centers in
New York State.  We will be purchasing T-shirts, shorts, socks,
slipper socks, sweatshirts, and sweat pants for distribution to these
veterans.

Letters have been sent to each New York State AMVETS Family organization asking each group to please consider
having a fundraiser or make a donation to help support the Sons with this worthwhile program.  Any and all help will
be greatly appreciated.  This project will end on November 1, 2008 with purchase and distribution of all
undergarments to follow.

Project Undergarment
                                      June Update     
At the June Department meeting, the coordinators reported that
over $ 1,000 has been received or pledged to date.  Also, Richard
Beaulieu reported that other corporate help up to $ 2,000 may be
available.
                           October 2008 Update
It was reported at the Fall SEC that current amount in hand is $2,822 with at
least another $1000 expected by November deadline.  With good purchasing
power maximizing corporate contributions, it is expected that almost $6,000
worth of undergarments will be available for donation to New York State
VAMCs.
June 2009 Update

The pot is now at $5,000!

A representative of Western New York VA services is providing information on number
patients at each of the 13 VAMC's in New York State.  Distribution will be according to
number of patients at each.
November 2009 Update

$6,000 of UNDERGARMENTS PURCHASED

Undergarments have been purchased from a Northcountry Walmart
Distribution underway.
